WaterAid

Basic needs come first and without access to clean water and sanitation, women will not be able to fulfil their potential. To support the work in improving access to clean water and sanitation all over the world, we collaborate with WaterAid.

A long-term collaboration

Being a water responsible company is part of our sustainability promise for future generations and we have collaborated with WaterAid for several years to support their work in improving access to clean water and sanitation. 

3 projects

completed in Gazipur, Mirpur and Savar in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

90 sanitation facilities

 have been renovated or constructued for workers and their families, benefiting 11, 234 peopl.

21,445 people

have gained access to handwashing facilities at factories and in workers’ communities 

20,829 people

reached with key hygiene messages.

11,604 people

reached hrough menstrual health management  awareness activities.

304 change agents

trained to raise awareness and improve hygiene behaviours in factories and communities.

Meet the change makers

Meet some of the young women who have become change agents. As part of the projects, they have received training on water, sanitation and hygiene, which they use to raise awareness in their communities.

What makes me happy is to see people living a healthy life. Besides my studies, I promote clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene in my community.

When I spoke to my community, at first, I did not receive much attention. But as time goes by, with continuous attempts and efforts to improve WASH facilities in my community, the people started listening to me.

The importance of clean water and sanitation

Diseases linked to unsafe water and inadequate sanitation remain a major global health challenge. According to WHO, 2.1 billion people globally lack access to safe drinking water and 3.4 billion people lack safely managed sanitation.

This disproportionately affects women and girls, limiting their opportunities and ability to reach their full potential. In many communities, something as natural as menstruation can become a barrier to education due to a lack of clean water and proper sanitation facilities.
