Lindex profit increased by 27 percent

Lindex operating profit increased by 27 percent during the last quarter of 2013. This was due to strong sales development in all Lindex markets. For the entire year, the increase in revenue was up from MEUR 671 to MEUR 688.

“We had a very tough start to the year which we succeeded to turn around with fantastic summer sales, a great transition to autumn and a good end to the year”, says Göran Bille CEO at Lindex.

The comparable revenue increased in the last quarter of 2013 by 1.5 percent across all Lindex markets. Lindex in Sweden showed an increase of x percent and outside of Sweden the success continues with an increase of as much as x percent in local currencies.

“We increased in sales on all our markets except for Finland, where the retail trade was significantly weak. We had a good sales increase for our women’s wear and kids’ wear. It’s also fun that we have made important steps on our new markets, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and we are increasingly consolidating our position in the Baltic States and Russia. The figures are a proof that our fashion is appreciated internationally which is something that we want to develop further within our long-term expansion. In September 2013 we signed a contract with our Chinese franchise partner Suning with the goal to open 100 stores within four years. In September 2014, we will open up the doors to our first store in Shanghai, China, we are really looking forward to that”, says Göran Bille.

In addition, Lindex 2013 won yet again the prestigious award “Fashion Chain of the Year” at Habits Fashion Gala. The motivation was among other things, Lindex has a clear concept which has been successful in Sweden, as well as, internationally.

The new concept creates a welcoming shopping environment filled with tips and ideas for the fashion-conscious woman, where one can sense the ambience of our Scandinavian tradition in the interior. The store is our most important communication channel, which makes this investment important for the upcoming years, says Göran Bille.
