Lindex releases sustainability report for 2023

Today, Lindex releases its sustainability report for 2023, reporting on a year marked by volatility, including global conflicts and the climate crisis. Despite these challenges, the fashion company has continued to make significant progress in fulfilling its sustainability promise – to make a difference for future generations.

‘In 2023, we navigated through a year marked by volatility, from global conflicts to the climate crisis. Yet, among these challenges, governments worldwide are crafting policies, signalling a shift towards more sustainable practices. And some of this has the potential to spark a major shift in how companies take responsibility for the impacts of their operations. I’m proud to see that we, despite continued global volatility, managed to accelerate our progress in fulfilling our sustainability promise to make a difference for future generations while also growing both sustainably and profitably.

Our achievements reflect not just our commitment to our promise but also the incredible dedication and fantastic engagement of our employees. No matter how volatile the world may be, we will continue to respond with a firm commitment to our higher purpose and our promise, which we know leads to our success as a company and as a member of this global community’, says Susanne Ehnbåge, CEO at Lindex.

In the sustainability report, Lindex summarises the year 2023 and describes the fashion company's progress and challenges as well as the transformation that marks the entire company. Some of the highlights during the year include:

  • Lindex has reduced its total emission by 21 per cent during 2023 and by 41 per cent compared to 2017, despite a strong sales growth. This reduction was due, among other things, to a continuous conversion to recycled materials, transition to renewable energy as well as an improved full price sales which led to reduced clearance and volumes.
  • Lindex has submitted revised climate targets to Science Based Targets initiative for validation.
  • Lindex has accelerated its commitment to circularity through a long-term agreement with Finnish Infinited Fiber Company and its patented fibre Infinna™, made from 100 per cent post-consumer textile waste.
  • 42 per cent of Lindex’s assortment has at least 15 per cent recycled content.
  • Lindex donated 2 per cent of each Female Engineering period panty sold to the fashion company’s Water Aid projects in 2023.
  • Lindex started yet another project with Water Aid in a new area in Dhaka called Savar which will impact another 8.700 people through WASH.
  • 100 per cent of Lindex’s tier 1 suppliers have implemented digital wage payments.
