Re:Design

Re:Design

At Lindex, we are constantly looking for improvement by finding new innovative and circular ways of working. Re:Design represents one of our latest step towards closing the loop.

Production of textile fibres has tripled since 1980 and if it continues to increase at the same pace, 200 million tons of textile fibres will be produced in only one year by 2030. It can be hard to grasp the statistics, but it is clear that this development cannot continue in the same direction. We need to ask ourselves; how can we use resources and textiles that already exist in the best way?

In March 2017 we launched Re:Design; a collection of exclusive upcycled products redesigned and remade in Borås, Sweden. In the making of this collection we explored the possibilities for each garment and pushed the boundaries to rethink how we make a garment and prolong its life. With redesign, one great garment can become several amazing pieces during its lifetime. You can read more about the collection here.

Re:Design was a pilot where we partnered up with Re:textile at The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås. Re:textile is a project organisation that aims to develop structures for circular processes in the textile industry. Their goal is to contribute to decreased consumption of resources through new design processes and business models. You can read more about Re:textile and their thoughts about Re:Design here.

A project such as Re:Design demands close cooperation between functions throughout the whole organisation, from design to buying, logistics, stores and everything in between. In this pilot we learned a lot and will continue to explore new innovative and circular ways of working.
